Emerging Leaders Program for non-profit leaders

Program Description

 

Emerging Leaders Program is aimed to create a cadre of Armenian, Turkish and American young professionals who lead local non-profits to promote the development of civil society and economic opportunities. The Program will bring together emerging grass root leaders aged 21-35 from Armenia, Turkey and USA that will work together to create community-based projects to build NGOs capacities, deepen ties between three countries and strengthen  civil society.

 

Selected participants will take part in study tours to USA and Turkey and will host the USA and Turkey participants in Armenia. The study tours will include thematic discussions, trainings, professional site visits, and job shadowing activities and will be followed by on-line communication and conferences. The Program will provide participants with opportunity to share their experience and best practices, and create new links between organizations in three countries. Preliminary study tours periods are: USA – February 2011, Turkey and Armenia – April 2011. All costs related to the study tours will be covered by the Program.

 

The Program is implemented jointly with Academy for Educational Development (USA) and Civil Society Development Center (Turkey) with the support of the US Embassy in Ankara, Turkey.

 

Participation Criteria

 

Currently CDPF is looking for local non-profit (NGO, foundation, association, etc.) team members aged 21-35 for participation in the Program from Armenian side.

 

Program applicants should meet the following criteria:

 

- Be between 21 to 35 years of age;

- Be active team member of local non-profit (president, director, program manager, PR specialist, etc.);

- Demonstrate strong leadership skills;

- Have strong motivation to work in the related area in the future; 

- Have strong analytical skills;

- Have understanding of the events and processes in Turkish-Armenian-USA relations;

- Be willing to travel to USA and Turkey;

- Have a good knowledge of English.

 

Application Process

 

For participation in the competition interested persons should fill in attached Application Form and send it to registration@cdpf.am before November 28, 2010, 18:00. Please, indicate ”Emerging Leader Program“ in the subject line.

 

The selection will be conducted by the independent Selection committee. The Selection Committee may conduct interviews in person or via telephone or internet with short listed participants. After the interviews, the Selection Committee, working in very close consultation with the U.S. Embassy and AED, will decide upon the final recruitment. As a result of competition 18 participants from 6 organizations will be selected for participation in the Program.
